5 Aug 2009What is it about August that screams, “Let’s start construction EVERYWHERE!”
You know the joke, Michigan has two seasons: Winter & Construction.
I take three major highways on my commute to Ann Arbor. All three of them have had some type of construction on them. Nothing was too irritating until this past week. They have closed two lanes on M-14, right where all kinds of traffic is merging on.
Go around you say?
Yeah. There is no easy way to go around. If you get off at Beck (going East Bound) there is no light at the end of the off ramp. Backups. Take Beck to 6 mile? Backups.
You know what the most infuriating thing is? The fact that the part of the road they are working on is about five feet long. So you sit in 20 minutes of backed up traffic for a section of road that is about as long as I am tall.
This lady in front of me in a maroon Chevy Cobalt this morning was CAH-RA-ZY. A little bit of road rage going on. You know, the shaking of the fists as cars pass her on the right side, essentially cutting in the line we’ve all been sitting in. She even went as far as pulling her little car out to drive in two lanes. Cars would honk at her and there would be more fist pumping (and not in a good way).
Why do they have to do both the East and West sides at the same time? So I can be annoyed two times a day instead of one? Yep, the State of Michigan DOT is looking directly at me and you and you, rubbing it’s grubby hands together and laughing (mwuhahahaha).

i believe those would be MN’s 2 seasons- winter and construction! although I haven’t really come across much this year, so I can’t complain
But bad drivers just suck in general. esp road ragey types. you can’t do anything about it, so you might as well just kick back and crank up the radio
